About Jacana Camp

  • Close Panel

Jacana Camp is situated in the Jao Concession on the border of the Moremi Game Reserve. It is located on an island and is a small, intimate camp with accommodation for just 10 guests. This is great area for year round game viewing.

There are just 5 Meru-style tents set on raised wooden decks to make the most of the marvellous views. Each has an ensuite bathroom with a shower open to the sky. The main dining area is on a raised wooden platform between 2 sycamore fig trees. Meals can also be taken outdoors in the boma by the camp fire. The cosy lounge is below the dining area and has a large viewing deck. There is a separate thatched relaxation area with hammocks, ideal for taking it easy between game viewing activities. The camp also has a plunge pool.

Mokoro rides are popular ways to explore the waterways of the delta and Jacana also offers boating trips. Game drives are available from September to May. Walking safaris are offered, but need to be booked prior to travel. There are 2 platform decks for guests to visit in the Jao Concession.

This is a great area for seeing sitatunga and red lechwe. Of the larger animals, guests can hope to see elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo. The birdlife near Jacana is plentiful. The volume of wildlife is dependant on water flow, so varies season to season.

Pricing guidelines for Botswana

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £700 to £1000 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Botswana combines well with Zambia and South Africa.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
