The Buffalo Safari

This brings you the wildlife of the Okavango & Chobe in a short safari ending in Victoria Falls. It is a semi-participation mobile camping safari which is ideal for anyone wanting to explore Botswana on a budget with basic facilities, and is happy helping out in camp. The vehicle takes max 12 people, with a trailer for mobile kitchen and luggage.

This is an easy trip suitable for most people, best described as a semi-participation mobile camping safari.

Best time

The Delta region is at its very best between May and September, though you can still travel here up to December and have decent game viewings. Victoria Falls has the most water in the rainy season, but in the dry season you get better views of the chasm which is no less spectacular.

Itinerary

Duration: 7 days

Days 1-3:
Depart from Maun first thing in the morning and drive to Moremi Game Reserve. The next three nights are spent gameviewing here, with morning and afternoon drives, and lunchtime siestas. (FB)
Days 4-5:
We travel north to Chobe National Park, stopping to see the Savuti region on the way. Gameviewing in the park and by the River. (FB)
Day 6:
Today we’ll take a ferry and then drive to Livingstone, arriving early afternoon. Visit the Victoria Falls. (B,L)
Day 7:
The tour ends after breakfast. (B)

Pricing guidelines for Botswana

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £700 to £1000 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Botswana combines well with Zambia and South Africa.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
