Letaka Safaris operates group mobile camping trips in Botswana to a very high standard. We recommend these safaris to those seeking the excitement of camping in the wilds of the country whilst experiencing some comforts such as en-suite bathroom facilities and enjoying the company of a small group. We can choose an itinerary to suit your dates and requirements, the most popular being the Northern Highlights, which is detailed below.
Letaka Camping takes place using large walk in bow tents kitted out with stretch beds (all linen and towels included) and having a small shade verandah with camping chairs to the front and a small en-suite bathroom area through a zip door at the back. Water is heated as needed on camp fires and the toilet is a portable loo.
Top quality meals are prepared seamingly out of nowhere as your highly skilled camp staff bake bread and prepare feasts while you are out with your guide on a game drive! Dine under the stars at proper tables with good South African wines to wash down a sumptious three course dinner and sit around the camp fire with a nightcap, listening to the noise of the bush. Mess tent shelters are erected in camps for shade and weather protection.
These safaris take place between Maun and Kasane, traversing through areas of Moremi Game Reserve, Okavango and Chobe. There are also specialist birding departures which can be taken into Zambia as well. Please ask us about any private departures or what dates are available for group trips.
Letaka Safaris are run by Brent and Grant Reed, known locally as 'the Letaka Brothers', the name coming from a local word which sounds like Letaka that means 'reeds'! They are both highly skilled bird and natural history guides, so although there are other guides in the company, if you do have special requests for birding safaris, Grant and Brent are amongst professionals in Botswana.
