The Okavango Delta from the air

On safari in the Okavango Delta

Our Unforgettable Experiences pages are written by Tribes clients. They tell us in their own words what they really felt about the things they did and places and people they met on their holidays with Tribes. Hopefully this will help you when it comes to trying to decide where to go and what to do.

We'd like to thank everyone who takes the trouble to write one of these Experience reviews for us. This is a new part of our website since February 2010, and we hope they will be added to quickly over the coming months.

  3. Don't miss this experience. The water from Angola was coming down so the water world was revealed with its abundant wildlife. The bird and animal life was amazing - and we saw leopards! This is a very exciting safari experience.

  3. We saw a lion take down a zebra, a hyena chase a leopard, a pack of wild dogs fighting hyenas, a cheetah on the prowl, a leopard stalking impala and a fish eagle at close quarters - not to mention the scores of beautiful birds, families of elephants, herds of buffalo and gatherings of giraffe!!
The metre long monitor lizard and 2 metre crocodile were mere afterthoughts!!
Oh and the hippos, jackals, monkeys and baboons - nearly forgot them!

  3. This is one area one should visit to gain an insight into the vastness of this delta. The wildlife was exceptional and by staying at Footsteps and being able to walk makes one realise how insignificant we are. We were fortunate to ride in a mokoro around a small section of the delta.

    • Had a whale of a time!
  3. The Delta was a great experience. The water levels, exceptionally, were not dropping due to heavy rains in Angola so big herds of animals were not on offer. The camps were full though as most people were there to see the Wild Dogs.

  3. I was glad to have experienced this as a contrast to the northern Kalahari, which I also loved, even though I was too late for the zebra herds there. The Delta is positively teeming with wildlife both in and around the water. Travelling by mekoro canoe was amazing, whilst sunsets are quite spectacular.

  3. For me Botswana will not end here. There is something special about its loveliness and our experience supported the development of a lovely memory.
We felt it a great privilege to be there at such an eventful time. In a few days you would have thought someone had flicked on a switch. The vegetation was opening, and the arrival of wildlife migrating from poorer area to be part of the localised good fortune.
