Xakanaxa Camp

Xakanaxa Camp (pronounced Ka-ka-na-ka) was one of Botswana’s first-ever safari camps in the Okavango Delta, and it combines an authentic African bush camp experience with stylish and comfortable accommodation. Xakanaxa Camp is in the beautiful Moremi Game Reserve, set on the banks of the Khwai River on the Xakanaxa Lagoon, a location where big game and fantastic birdlife are guaranteed.

The elegant thatched timber main buildings and the 12 classic safari tents are raised on platforms, giving guests superb views of the lagoons and islands. Each comfortably-furnished tent has a private viewing deck to make the most of its lagoon-side position, and all tents are ensuite, with shower, handbasin and toilet. Xakanaxa Camp has a guest lounge, small library, dining room, gift shop, fire deck and small pool. There is a generator, but at night the camp is lit by candles and lanterns, creating a magical environment.

Meals at Xakanaxa Camp are usually taken in the dining room, and the chef provides excellent safari fare. Guests may, if they prefer, dine in private.

The pattern of the day is usually an early wake up call with tea or coffee and a light breakfast at 0530 - 0600 then out on a morning game drive as the animals wake up.  Back to camp for 1030 a brunch is served of breakfast and lunch dishes.  Guests then have a siesta time until mid afternoon when high tea is served before heading out for a late afternoon game drive and coming back to camp for around 1830 - 1900.  Dinner is served between 1930 - 2000 with fireside drinks before and after.
