  • Close Panel

Thamalakane River Lodge enjoys a restful setting by the river just a 20 minute drive from Maun. There are a number of excursions available or guests can chose to relax by the swiimming pool or on their own patio, enjoying fine sunset views.

Accommodation is in comfortable stone chalets, all with private bathroom, ceiling fan, mosquito nets and tea and coffee making facilities. 2 bottles of mineral water are provided free of charge in each chalet daily. All have a patio overlooking the Thamalakane River with its plentiful bird life and some chalets have their own plunge pool. There are 2-bedroomed chalets to accommodation families and a honeymoon suite with a four poster bed, plunge pool and private dining on request.

The restaurant is housed in a wood and thatch building and has an extensive menu and excellent wine list. There are views out to the river and beautiful sunsets can be seen while enjoying dinner.

During the day the lodge provides trips and excursions. Moremi Game Reserve is just 90 minutes away and a days's game viewing is a popular option. It is also possible to take mokoro trips and guided walks in the Okavango Delta. Bird watching trips to nearby Lake Ngami are also offered. Maun with ist shopping centres is within easy reach.

Pricing guidelines for Botswana

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £700 to £1000 depending on the season and route (unless the airlines have special offers). Botswana combines well with Zambia and South Africa.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

  £50 to £150

  £150 to £300

  £300 to £500

Located on the river front, it's a great place to watch the sun go down. It's about 10kms from Maun centre and the airport, so it's an ideal place to spend the night if you're arriving late or leaving early. I stayed in a new chalet which has a lovely bathroom and an amazing shower. There is also a mobile 'phone signal and internet access.
