Zanzibar & the Coast

If you are looking for some rest and relaxation the Indian Ocean you can either plump for the mainland coast or choose one of the lovely islands.  The biggest island here is Zanzibar, but there are also tiny islands such as Chole which are perfect if you want somewhere quiet. 

If you fancy combining wild beach with bush, try Saadani for a little-visited alternative.

This coastal area of Tanzania is best accessed via Dar es Salaam, but flights from Arusha or Kilimanjaro will connect you from northern Tanzania easily.
