Each tent has a covered veranda, complete with table and chairs, where guests can sit back and enjoy the fine views.
The comfortable lounge/dining area is shaped like a dhow, open-sided and with a thatched roof. It is furnished with dhow couches and African antiques. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served here or on the beach. In addition the lodge supplies packed lunches for guests who will be away during the day. Barbecues can also be arranged are served on the beach. At night the lodge is lit up by fishermen's lanterns, making a picturesque scene.
Mahale Mountains National Park is home to some of Africa's last remaining wild chimpanzees and tracking these wonderful primates is one of the most popular activities here. As well as the chimpanzees there are several species of monkey and a myraid of forest birds. This part of Lake Tanganyika also offers some of the best fresh water fishing in Tanzania, here you can catch Sangara (Nile Perch), Kuhe (Yellow Belly) to name just a few. The lodge also arranges boat trips and forest and waterfall walks. Guests can also opt to relax on the sun loungers by the lake, go swimming, snorkelling or kayaking. So, however much or little activity you choose to do, your stay at Kungwe Beach Lodge will be a memorable experience to take away with you.
"Another beautiful location on Lake Tanganyika. Unfortunately we had some clothing stolen from our baggage which we did not notice until we arrived at our next destination. A shame because we were well looked after."
