Open: Mosaic Private Sanctuary is open all year.
Location: The resort is near Hemanus on the Whale Coast, some 2 hours’ drive south east of Cape Town. It is located by Hermanus Lagoon, a short distance from Walker Bay.
Rooms: There are 5 suites at Lagoon Lodge, each with a mosquito-netted king bed or twin beds, sitting area with a writing desk and open fireplace. They are cooled by ceiling fans. Bathrooms are large with rough-hewn stone walls, a bath and basin, and there’s a separate outdoor shower. To the front there’s a private deck.
Activities: Many and varied. Spend a lazy day on Walker Bay Beach, or opt for a long walk along the strand and between June and December you may spot whales out to sea. The resort can organise boat cruises on Hermanus Lagoon, or you can explore by kayak. Brave-hearted souls might want to try shark cage diving. On land there are various mountain bike trails you can follow, and guides are on hand to take you on nature and bird watching walks. Water, beach and 4x4 activities are included in your stay and other activities can be paid for locally.
Facilities: You'll have full use of Lagoon Lodge which has a lounge with a fireplace for cooler evening, and a terrace. There's also a heated plunge pool. The Mosaic Rain Spa offers a range of therapeutic and pampering treatments, including massage and body wraps, to be enjoyed indoors or outdoors. The Lagoon Café has a shop selling local handicrafts and jewellery, and a boule piste.
Dining: Meals are served at Lagoon Lodge, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with the option of taking lunch at the Lagoon Cafe, open daily bewteen 11am and 5pm.
Children: Children aged 3 years and over are welcome. There is one family suite at Lagoon Lodge.
Health: This is not a malarial area.
Communication: There is free Wi-Fi internet access.
